ENZYME AND CELL ENGINEERING
UMR 7025 CNRS

Direction: Pr Karsten HAUPT

Created in 1974 by Prof. Daniel Thomas, the Enzyme and Cell Engineering Unit UMR 7025 CNRS (GEC) is located on 2 different sites:

  • University of Technology of Compiègne (Compiègne, UTC)
  • University of Picardy Jules Verne (Amiens, UPJV)

As a joint research unit, GEC is 70% attached to the Institute of Biology (INSB) and 30% to the Institute of Chemistry (INC).

GEC is member of the Alliance Sorbonne Université.

Research

The scientific approaches developed by GEC comply  with three main concepts that lead to scientific and technological discoveries in connection with Biology:

Building on its national and international acknowledged expertise in biotechnology,  GEC develops approaches combining optimization of the utilization of bioresources or plant metabolism and creation of bioinspired materials or mimics dedicated to molecular recognition to address the scientific and technological challenges of today and tomorrow.

GEC is organized around 2 research themes, with some activities being at the interface between them:

Plant Metabolism and Bioresources      Biomimicry and Biomolecular Diversity
